I probably shouldn’t be writing anything about Daniel. He passed away on October 19, 2025.  I didn’t know him, never met him, know very little about him, in fact I’ve only been playing chess for just 2 1/2 years, and only online. But I did enjoy watching and learning from him.

Whether on YouTube or commentating, he explained things in such a way that even I understood. Or at least I thought I did. Most things were way over my head but he made it seem so simple.

The thing that really affects me about his passing is that he was 29 years old. Being quite a bit older that just… I can’t even put it into words what an impact that is.

I just want to send my condolences to his family and friends. This is from a nobody that enjoys and plays chess. Thank you Danya for being you. R.I.P
